Meet Your Supervisor
With over 40 years of experience in the health sector across a range of roles and settings, Helen is deeply committed to supporting early career Occupational Therapists as they navigate the often challenging early stages of their professional journey.
Helen’s extensive background spans acute and long-term hospital care, residential aged care, and community-based services. She has held senior and specialist roles within the public health system, bringing a wealth of clinical and leadership expertise.
Her areas of clinical focus include intellectual disability services, stroke rehabilitation (including for younger populations), neuropsychiatry, and the prescription of both basic and complex equipment. Helen also has specialised experience in home modifications, community palliative care, chronic health care for older adults, and pressure injury management.
For over 15 years, Helen served as the Student Coordinator for Newcastle Local Health District, earning recognition from the University of Newcastle through the Industry Awards for Employer Excellence in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and an induction into the University’s Hall of Fame.
Helen is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and confidential space for reflection. She helps supervisees explore ethical dilemmas, manage workloads, and develop their professional identity—fostering strong, trusting relationships that support long-term growth and confidence.
